Event Team FAQ

What does Beyond Thought’s Event Team do?

We plan one big event per semester as well as several smaller private/public CAJ events and activities including an open mic event, game night, movie night, or Secret Santa to celebrate special days/occasions like National Compliment Day, National Inspire Your Heart with Art Day, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, spring break, or winter break. Our main goal is to smoothly execute successful events and have fun.

Do I need any qualifications or previous event planning experience to join the team?

Nope- no qualifications or experience are required. UNLV undergraduate students from any major are welcome!

What is expected from Event Team Members?

Team members need to work together and practice strong communication in our Slack messaging platform (with notifications turned on). You are expected to share your opinions, ideas, and updates on what you have accomplished. Overall, we want everyone to be on board with what the team is trying to accomplish and share the excitement. If you miss the whole group chat, don’t worry -- you can reach out to our event coordinators. We understand it may be difficult to confront the fear of not knowing what’s going on! Together, we complete our assignments and bring our event ideas to life.

How much time/work will I need to commit as an event team member?

We meet biweekly for one hour on Tuesdays at 3:30pm-4:30pm. We ask for you to check Slack messages at least three days per week. A total of four hours of team participation is preferred.
